This is my first official post on my new blog site. Thanks to everyone who will be checking up on me periodically. Please feel free to comment on any posting. I have unlocked it so anyone can comment without logging into blogspot or google. Also, it a goal of mine that all of you reading this will begin to pick up some Russian words or phrases, so I will periodically include Russian words, how to say it in English and finally a translation. For example, Привет-Privyet-Hello.
First off, I would like to especially thank Lara Speights for telling me to set this up, it sounded like a great idea...and my mother greatly appreciates the idea of constant updates. The postings might be slow at first but I'm guessing I will find a posting rhythm which will please everyone once I'm settled in Moscow
As many of you know, my family has decided to move from Katy to Fulshear (which is about 20 minutes west of here) into a neighborhood called Weston Lakes. So although this is my first post to my newly formed blog, it is also my last post from where I have called home for the past 10 years.
Well, I was originally supposed to fly out Wednesday morning, and yes that was this morning, but the Russian visas for the students in my program did not properly come through. Therefore, I don't arrive in Moscow until the 8th of February. This sad postponement has led to other great opportunities. Now that I have my passport back in my possession with an approved Russian visa, I can be on my way to Europe. The change of plans has given me a chance to visit my good friend Toby in Maastricht, which is in the southern most tip of The Netherlands. I'm very excited that I will get to spend a good week with him starting this Sunday. I fly into Düsseldorf at 3pm Sunday. I've never been there before, but if the city is anywhere as cool as its name, I'll be a happy camper.
Sorry if this first post was a little bit chaotic, I don't have a feel yet on how to write a blog in a coherent manner.
Until next time,
До свидания! Do svidaniya! (The formal way of saying Good bye!)
